North Carolina Settles Jail Fire Death Claims

Our firm recently resolved wrongful death claims for families that we represent related to the Mitchell County North Carolina jail fire of May 2002. The Mitchell County Jail, located in Bakersville, burned, causing the deaths of seven inmates due to smoke inhalation. Several of the inmates, like our 21-year-old client Haley Thomas, were spending weekends in the jail for minor offenses. We have periodically mentioned the case as it moved through the appellate process.

U-haul trailers and more of the same

Our firm has successfully handled two wrongful death cases recently against U-Haul. In each case, the U-Haul trailer was being pulled by a Ford Explorer. Also in each of the cases, the trailer began to sway and ultimately caused the vehicles to roll over, leading to the death of the drivers of the Ford Explorers. Atico International USA recalls personal blenders

About 124,000 Signature Gourmet™ and Crofton® Personal Blenders are being recalled due to laceration hazard. While placing the cup on or off the base of the blender, the blender can be inadvertently turned on, activating the blade. This can pose a serious laceration hazard to consumers.
