Safety Violations Found At Truck Firm Involved In Fatal Bus Crash

It appears that a Kentucky trucking company, involved in a school bus crash that killed one student and injured 12 people, had violated a number of federal and state safety regulations. It was reported that a review by the Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement agency found eight safety violations for XXL Trucking. Three violations for the company were labeled by the agency as critical and included drivers failing to keep time sheets or records of duty status. Also, none of the four trucks was periodically inspected. The vehicle enforcement agency conducts safety reviews when a company is involved in a fatal crash.

On May 1st, a dump truck owned by XXL Trucking crashed into a school bus near Falmouth, Kentucky. A 16-year-old student was killed. Ten students and both drivers were injured. The owner of XXL Trucking told the enforcement agency that the company was unaware of the alleged violations, but would correct them. A wrongful death lawsuit, alleging negligence by the trucking company and the dump truck driver, has been filed.
